Too Awesome!

I want to set up this story because it is important to the point I will attempt to make at some point in this post.

Last night I was invited out to dinner by my daughter.  She has a friend from college who graduated the same time she did and is also a sociology major.  This intelligent young woman worked her way through college as a waitress at this restaurant and is still working there due to the economic downturn.  So, we went there to visit with her while we ate.

We had a lot of fun.  This young woman is funny and smart and was dumped by her boyfriend for being too awesome.  Yes, he told her she was too awesome and just couldn’t deal with that.  Needless to say we took it and ran with it all night and enjoyed the puns and the jokes that came from her awesomeness.  This overwhelmingly awesome woman is about to embark on a new adventure.  She is going to take Ninja lessons.  She will make an awesome Ninja1  Well, I guess you can guess  where our conversation went.  On her resume she can now put, waitress, too awesome for words, sociology major, and Ninja.  I think I laughed until my side hurt.  When she is waiting tables, first you see her then you don’t and your food will magically appear on your table….  that is the Ninja way…the fun continued.

So, what is the point of this?  As we were getting ready to leave I handed her my Sasquatch Watch business card.  Her face turned pale.  She asked me if this was a joke?  When I told her no, that we investigate these kinds of things, she told me that she had seen a Bigfoot.  Now it was my turn to gape.  It seems that sometime in her past she and two friends were near a creek and saw a Bigfoot.  In fact, she explained, one of her friends had taken a picture.  She didn’t know if she still had it but was going to call her friend and ask.  Then, she invited us to visit during her next vacation, offering us free room while we are there. She said she would take us to the exact spot and then on to a neighboring state where one of the three had relocated so we could interview him.

Now, the idea of a picture laying forgotten out there is almost too much to bear.  I do hope the friend still has the picture!

This woman is as credible as my own daughter.  The look on her face and her immediate reaction said it all.  I believe her when she told me she had seen a Bigfoot.  I can hardly wait to interview her and her friends.  I asked her why she hadn’t reported it?  She said that she had told a couple of friends and gotten such a raft of teasing and tormenting that they decided to just drop it and never mention it again.  You might want to read one of my articles where I summarized a paper written on the subject of Witness Ridicule and how it affects the reporting of sightings.  This fits in well with the research as well as the conclusions by the original author.

A simple night out with friends has turned into quite the potential.  If this photo exists and it is clear enough to identify the creature in it, this could be only the second actual photo of a Bigfoot in existence….second only to the Patterson film.   What a discovery!  However, it may simply be that the picture does not exist anymore.  I hate to think of it but it could be a real possibility.  I hope not but I will still believe this woman.  I do not know the exact details or dates yet, but as soon as I find out and we authenticate the information we will be sharing it.

Unless the witness wants us to, we will not reveal details that may identify them or cause them problems.  However, I will share with all of you what we discover and then decide what to do about it.  We may contact another group in the area and turn over the information so they can investigate it even further, but that is still in the future.  We will deal with that when the time is right.

We are so excited!  The point I am making is, you never know where the reports will come from.  This was such a long shot.  Out of the blue I run across someone who has seen one.  Had I not handed her my card, none of this would have happened.  So, when you leave a tip, leave your card.   When you check out at the grocery or the gas station, leave your card.  Don’t pass an opportunity to hand out your card or share with people.  You just never know where the next sighting will come from.

Welcome to the Official Sasquatch Watch Headquarters Blog!

I want you know know that we are the first, the original Official Sasquatch Watch Headquarters.  We created Sasquatch Watch in 1998.  We originally coined the phrase, Sasquatch Watch.  It has been 12 years and boy, has time moved quickly.  Others may say they are Sasquatch Watch, but we are the original–the Real McCoy!

Computer technology has changed rapidly since our simple beginnings.  We were derailed a few years ago while we dealt with Jim’s kidney disease.  During that time we were unable to take advantage of all the new innovations that were invented during this critical time.  However, since the transplant and his full recovery, we are able, (due to our retirement), to dedicate our efforts to proving Bigfoot exists.  We are not ready for our rocking chairs yet!

We are busy converting all our original Bigfoot information from our personal website at cactusventures.com to this new official website.  We discovered that embedding it within our personal site confused people and did not lend it the weight we had hoped.  We have now dedicated this new site entirely to Sasquatchwatch.info.  Let us know how you like the new changes!  We will begin redirecting from cactusventures.com to sasquatchwatch.info soon.

We could not improve our site without adding a blog which will allow you a forum for discussion, a place to report sightings, a way to ask questions, share information and educate yourself about Bigfoot.  We hope you will use the blog to discuss the new project we are starting–Roadside Research.  If you want more information just visit Sasquatchwatch.info where you will find a link to our Roadside Research Projects.  We visualize the new research projects as a way for all of us to get involved.  No one has to settle for being an armchair researcher when you involve yourself in your own research using this method.  It is like a treasure hunt!  It gets you out in the field without all the expense and problems connected with expeditions.  It allows you to see where it happened, hear the sounds, smell the environment and perhaps discover information that may be missing from the original reports.  So, lace up your boots, gas up the car and head out on the road to follow the directions and the clues to the very spot where the sighting occurred.  What a fun way to spend a weekend!

So, here we are with our very first official post.  We hope you enjoy the journey as we share the mystery.  Good luck and good hunting!
